    About Our Carers

Companions of London selects only the best home care providers to join our professional network. All of our registered carers are highly qualified and able to offer a wide range of services, including palliative carerespite caredomiciliary carealzheimer’s and dementia care and home-from-hospital care.

    The Vetting Process

Every Companions of London carer is carefully vetted to ensure that they meet our rigorous quality standards. We hold our carers to the highest professional standards and expect them to provide friendly, supportive and consistent care that improves our clients’ standards of living. That’s why we rigorously check their experience, qualifications and how previous clients have enjoyed working with them.

A carer who is registered with our network must:

    • Be fully trained in care for vulnerable elderly people
    • Possess relevant professional certifications, such as Healthcare Aid (HCA) or Personal Support Worker (PSW) qualifications
    • Be in possession of a valid work permit and have no criminal record
    • Have excellent references from previous clients — we personally follow up on all references and ask the right questions to understand performance.

Once a carer has joined our network, we regularly check in with their clients and request honest feedback on how the carer is performing. If a carer is found to be providing an unsatisfactory service, we will require that they undertake further training, if this is likely to be beneficial. If further training is not likely to be beneficial and there is no clear resolution to a client’s concerns, we will assign a different carer to the client and cancel the removed carer’s membership of Companions of London.

    About Our Carer Selection Process

While Companions of London does not directly employ carers, we do utilise thorough recruitment processes to ensure that every carer added to our network will provide an exceptional quality of service.

    The carer selection process involves:

    • Full background and reference checks — we follow up on every reference
    • Checking all professional and educational qualifications
    • Interviews to ensure the carer has a highly professional, warm and approachable manner
    • Careful assessment of the carer’s skills and personality against the potential client’s care plan to ensure that the carer is going to provide a beneficial and life-enhancing service to the client.

Once a Companions of London carer is assigned to you, we will stay in touch with both of you to ensure that the assignment is going well.
